the collapse of I-35W Bridge in Mn/DOT was faced with the
challenge of replacing bridge as quickly as possible because
the every day there was no bridge was costing the community
over $400,000 a day in additional transportation costs. Jay
Hietpas, P.E., is Mn/DOT’s Design-Build Program
