A certified general contractor, Dan Whiteman, President of Coastal Construction Group, earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in building construction from the University of Florida.

In addition, he has recently been awarded his Ph.D. in Design, Construction and Planning from the University of Florida. Dan has taught at the University of Florida, and is currently an Adjunct Professor at both the University of Miami and Florida International University.

A member of Coastal's advisory board since 1992, he oversaw construction of the Oceania and Oceania Island developments in Miami Beach before joining Coastal full-time in 1997.
